PFC Charlie Nelson's first assignment after radio school at Kelly AF Base in San Antonio, TX in 1949 - responsible for maintaining this old mobile direction finder. We saved a few poor lost souls, but gave a good many some erroneous headings.

Sgt Charlie Nelson's barracks at Bergstrom AF Base at Austin, TX in 1950 - imagine black tar paper barracks with the latrine outside. Funny, back then we didn't know we were deprived!!!
